Let's Go Green

Environmental sustainability continues to grow as a major public concern.

MARCOM 2009 is making every effort to “walk the talk” by implementing best practices for a Green Conference and Trade Show.

Steps we are taking at MARCOM 2009:

  • Venue is close to airport and hotel to limit out-of-town travel
  • Hotel package includes complimentary shuttle to and from venue to transport large numbers of people at one time
  • Reducing the amount of paper used, use of recyclable paper in all event applications
  • Presentations will be available online and access made for participants pre-event and post-event
  • Requesting that delegates bring their own notebooks and pens to take notes
  • Registration is online and automated with secure encryption to encourage this method
  • Delegate manual is biodegradable and recyclable
  • Limited collateral on site
  • Encouraging participants to share their Green marketing practices
  • Reusable name badge holders, collected annually post-event
  • Working with the Pearson Convention Center on Green conference practices such as:
    • No single portion package items
    • No disposable dishes, cutlery, straws, stir sticks, etc.
    • Jugs of water, juice, pop, milk, cream
    • Use of recyclable containers and informing participants of opportunities at the event

These are just some of our efforts.  Do you have ideas? Can you share what Green marketing you are doing?
