Let’s Go Green!

Environmental sustainability is a group effort.

MARCOM 2011 is making every effort to “walk the talk” by implementing best practices for a Green Professional Development Forum and Exhibit Showcase.

Steps we are taking at MARCOM 2011:

  • Venue and Accommodations are co-located to reduce travel
  • Reducing the amount of paper used, use of recyclable paper in all event applications
  • Presentations will be available online and access made for participants pre-event and post-event
  • Requesting that delegates bring their own notebooks and pens to take notes
  • Registration is online and automated with secure encryption
  • Delegate manual is recyclable and reusable
  • Limited collateral on site
  • Encouraging participants to share their Green marketing practices
  • Reusable name badge holders, collected annually post-event
  • Working with the Ottawa Convention Centre on Green conference practices such as:
    • No single portion package items
    • No disposable dishes, cutlery, straws, stir sticks, etc.
    • Jugs of water, juice, pop, milk, cream
    • Use of recyclable containers and informing participants of opportunities at the event

These are just some of our efforts. Do you have ideas? Can you share what Green marketing you are doing?
